HealthEngine Booking Widget
In production, the HealthEngine booking widget is embedded here. Patients select a practitioner, appointment type, date/time, and confirm — all within the widget. The booking writes directly into Best Practice via the Appointment Connector.

How the Integration Works
HealthEngine uses a server-side Appointment Connector installed at the clinic — not an API we call from this portal.
Connector Installed
HealthEngine's Appointment Connector software is installed on the clinic's Best Practice server. It runs locally and reads the BP appointment book in real-time.
Patient Books Online
Patient books via HealthEngine (widget, website, app, Google Maps, or Apple Maps). HE shows real-time availability pulled from the BP appointment book.
Auto-Sync to BP
The Connector writes the booking directly into the BP appointment book. An 'HE' marker identifies HealthEngine bookings. Two-way sync keeps both systems current.
New Patient Auto-Created
For new patients, the Connector matches by name + mobile + DOB. No match? It creates a new patient record in BP automatically from the HealthEngine booking details.
New Patient Form Flow
Patient fills HealthEngine intake form
Name, DOB, mobile, email, Medicare number, reason for visit. HealthEngine supports customisable intake forms per practice.
Appointment Connector scans for match
Searches BP patient database by full name + mobile number + date of birth. Exact match = existing patient, linked automatically.
No match = new patient record created in BP
The Connector creates a new patient in Best Practice with demographics from the HealthEngine form. Staff can verify and complete the record at check-in.
Booking appears in BP with HE marker
The appointment shows in the doctor's schedule with an 'HE' badge. All patient details, appointment type, and intake form responses are attached.
